Radiation Reflection, Day 2

One of the other cancer patients
brought a green handkerchief,
tied it around his neck, chuckled
and said, “I hate these,”
referring to the blue hospital gowns.
Another patient and I laughed, and I said,
“Yeah, there’s just no good way to wear them.”

But a green handkerchief on a holiday helps.
Holidays, like levity, are welcome -
We are lucky, after all.

This decoration is currently hanging in the cancer center. I took this picture on my first day of radiation. I’ve been saying for months now that I’m lucky for all kinds of reasons, and now the cancer center is telling me, too.
