Radiation Reflection, Day 4

I learned the names of two women
I share the radiation waiting room with each morning -
Pamela and Daneen.
Both have hair as white as the blossoms
on the tree outside the cancer center.
Daneen only has a few more treatments
I’m not sure about Pamela.
But Pamela and I shared laughter today,
and I got to congratulate Daneen on nearly being done,
and I think all of this kindness
is a poem in itself.

**Names have been changed

The radiation waiting room is decorated for St. Patrick’s Day. Heart shapes make four-leaf clovers.
