Radiation Reflection, Day 10
I wanted to try something different with this reflection. The following lyrics were written to match the melody of “August,” by Taylor Swift.
Dry air, and the sun through the glass,
Purple trees and stoplights I pass,
How long will all this last?
Fear inside me rises so fast.
Then I imagine faces and places,
People in their cars holding all that they grieve,
Then it’s not about me.
And I know that we’re all asked to be brave,
Innocents in cars holding all that we grieve,
Things that people can’t see.
My heart, cracked from the pain,
Inside darkened, haunting thoughts remain,
Now I must make a choice,
Anxiety, you don’t get a voice.
And I imagine faces and places,
People in their cars holding all that they grieve,
Then it’s not about me.
And I know that we’re all asked to be brave,
Innocents in cars holding all that we grieve,
Things that people can’t see.
It never felt like this disease would kill me,
I wondered what would,
It seemed like something would.
I wish I could control it all,
That I could predict every fall,
And say you must not worry at all -
So much for youthful bliss, for skipping this,
‘Cause I didn’t get to choose,
I didn’t get to choose, no.
And I imagine faces and places,
People in their cars holding all that they grieve,
Then it’s not about me.
And I know that we’re all asked to be brave,
Innocents in cars holding all that we grieve,
Things that people can’t see,
Things that people can’t see.
And I’ll remember,
Remember that I knew first and that something was wrong,
And they didn’t hear me, just because I’m young,
Back inside last autumn, we were having our fun, we were having our fun,
Don’t worry at all
(Remember that I knew first and that something was wrong)
(And they didn’t hear me, just because I’m young)
(Back inside last autumn, we were having our fun, we were having our fun)
(Don’t worry at all)
Remember that I knew first and that something was wrong,
And they didn’t hear me, just because I’m young,
Back inside last autumn, we were having our fun, we were having our fun,
We were having our fun, we were having our fun
(We were having our fun, we were having our fun)
