Radiation Reflection, Day 14

The price for my energy just went up
like it’s a rare coin or baseball card,
a guitar signed by Elvis.
My to-do list items better line up
like customers outside overnight
if they want my attention.
The number of things I can accomplish
is limited to the same number
of the latest X-Box consoles
on sale at Walmart
three weeks before Christmas -
six in stock for 600 customers.

My energy is limited to things
I can show up for,
for sleep,
and water,
and protein.

It’s expensive like a limited-edition
concert T-shirt,
A plane ticket home for Thanksgiving,
A front row seat for Harry Styles
at Madison Square Garden -
The 1996 Tickle Me Elmo -
The 1997 Princess Diana beanie baby.

Fatigue led my millennial brain to the 90s -
is this what fatigue does?

I know this probably sounds dramatic,
but if I’m not be a little dramatic
during cancer treatments,
I am missing an opportunity.
